  Getting the basics right in writing - and keeping that foundational knowledge secure as the writing we ask of children across KS2 grows more demanding - is crucial. The DfE's recent publications of The Writing Framework and Strong Foundations in the First Years of School as well as the updated Ofsted School Inspection Toolkit all emphasise the importance of securing transcription right across the age range, from strong foundations in EYFS through to Year 6 and beyond.
