Even before the pandemic many pupils risked underperformance due to a word gap.
Now there is an even greater impetus to secure pupils’ vocabulary knowledge. ‘Building Vocabulary in Primary English’ will focus on practical approaches to increase the depth and breadth of pupils’ vocabulary, crucial to success in English and beyond.
This course takes the form of two remote two-hour sessions and aims to provide practical approaches to closing the vocabulary gap in primary English. Using evidence-informed approaches, the focus will be on embedding effective vocabulary building into English learning journeys and developing high quality inclusive teaching for pupils with significant word gaps.
