Take part in our Raising Attainment in KS3 Writing: Year 7+ Project (Blended) - 10 November 2025, 13 January, 16 March (Part 1) and 6 July 2026 (Part 2)

by Hannah Richardson -

This project involves teachers of Year 7 English and leaders of whole school literacy working together with one main aim: to improve pupils’ writing in Year 7 and beyond.

The Writing Framework (DfE, July 2025) places strong emphasis on the need for secondary school teachers to ‘understand the complexity of teaching pupils – of whatever age – to write’. This course will ensure that participants understand how to identify those pupils ‘whose writing is poor and who may, as a result, have negative attitudes to school on transition’ and to provide the support and teaching that they need to become confident writers.

The project is planned across a full academic year and will include both face-to-face and online CPD as well as bespoke in-school support. Each CPD session includes the opportunity for up to three teachers to attend training jointly and work strategically to maximise progress in writing for KS3 pupils.

The course price entitles each school to bring up to three delegates to the sessions. Please register one teacher only on the Learning Zone. On confirmation of your booking, you will receive a link to register your additional delegates.
